Things that keep me going

Things that keep me going as we hit the one year mark of Corona and the quarantine, a guest post by Christina Bianchi:

So it’s almost been a full year since the beginning of the corona virus and have you been going stir crazy? Because I officially have been, and if you’re anything like me you are probably living in a completely different house than you were when this first started. Even though you are actually in the same house, if you know what I mean. Every room has been remodeled, twice. Christmas decorations went up and back down and somehow my Christmas decorations have doubled. I have become best friends with my amazon driver. So now that you are living in your dream home……maybe, and you’ve spent all this money making it look just the way you want it to, what do you do next?  What can you do to make this time better and really enjoy life right now? Obviously it has to be something involving your beautiful new remodeled home. So here is what I have been doing.

I have decided I need more things to cook. I have gone out and gotten brand new pots and pans and utensils and baking things, because you need baking things, like an apron. I have been searching pinterest for the best and to be honest the prettiest looking things to cook. When I find something I really want I buy all the ingredients and to be honest I have been changing some of the recipes around and making them my own. From appetizers to full blown dinners, cakes, pies and even different alcoholic drinks. I have found some that I really love and some that just got thrown out. The best part of this idea is I have written down all my favorite recipes and have made my own recipe book. And I have had so much fun making it. It really is something to look forward to and makes you happy while doing it.

I have turned a corner of a spare room in my house into a little library/ reading nook. Because I have always wanted a library like the one that Belle has in Beauty and the Beast but unfortunately I  don’t live in a castle and I’m still working on finding an actual Prince to marry. So, I have been buying books and adding to my collection. I am a big history and political buff so I have been going through those mostly, but I have gotten some books that have been recommended to me that I normally wouldn’t buy. And I am glad I have because I feel like it’s good to open your options to different things. It’s amazing what you can learn when you take on something new. So reading in the comfort of my own home has really brought me joy.

Another thing I have really gotten into lately is documentaries. Now I am all about murder documentaries and I can watch them non stop. I am literally obsessed. I know promoting sitting on your couch and watching tv isn’t great, but let’s be honest, there really isn’t much else to do in the middle of January in Connecticut during quarantine. But if you branch out there are many wonderful documentaries to watch. It doesn’t all have to be about the most dangerous people in America. There really is so much culture out there. I have watched a few things about the United Kingdom that has made me very interested in the British culture and the monarchy and to be honest I have given myself a full history lesson.  If you find something you’re really interested in, it leads to the research of more and then you find books to read and articles online. I find it to actually be very exciting to keep your mind active and to learn more and more. Who knew tv could lead to a healthy learning activity?
