Valentine’s Day on a Budget ♥

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, you might be feeling more anxious than excited to celebrate with your special someone due to money issues. When thinking of Valentine’s Day, some may have illusions of grandeur that involve an expensive dinner, dozens of long stem roses, champagne and jewelry. But Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be about how much money you spend – it should be about spending time with, and appreciating, the person that you love. To this end, there are many affordable but romantic date and gift ideas out there. In this blog, I’ll touch on some of the best date and gift ideas on a budget that I’ve come across.

Valentine’s Day Date Ideas on a Budget

  • Eat in This is a classic date idea, and it can be just as romantic (if not more romantic) to cook a nice meal with your significant other as it is to go to a fancy restaurant. You can still get dressed up, eat great food, and drink fancy wine – but for a fraction of the price. This can be a fun activity that takes the stress away from booking reservations at an overpriced, packed restaurant. Instead, you will be able to have an intimate dinner celebrating the two of you in the comfort of your own space.
  • Create a scavenger hunt If you and your significant other are creative and interested in a fun, challenging date, you can create a scavenger hunt. You can send your significant other to landmarks in your relationship, or create riddles that they’ll have to figure out in order to receive little presents. A personalized scavenger hunt is a romantic and fun way to spend time together.
  • Create your own spa Couples massages are expensive! Create your own spa at little to no cost. Light some candles, drink some tea, put on soothing music, and give each other massages.
  • Have a movie marathon Create your own movie theater by making popcorn and slushees in your blender and watch some of your favorite movies together. You can rent DVDs from your local library, stream Netflix, or go to RedBox to get some of your favorite movies. Snuggling up on the couch and sharing your favorite films is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas on a Budget

  • Create something If you’re artistic, put your talents to good use! Write a song, a poem, a letter, a short story, paint a picture – do something to express yourself and your love for that special someone. Yes, it’s cliché, but it’s cliché for a reason. Everyone likes to hear that they are loved every once in a while, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to share how you really feel. Whether you’re saying it for the first time or the millionth time, it will be appreciated.
  • Coupons Remember when you were a kid and you gave your mom coupons for Mother’s Day? These coupons can still apply even though you’re not a little kid anymore. Give your significant other something that they really want. The possibilities are endless, but here are some good ideas:
  1.    Coupon to watch the big game with your significant other, even if you hate the sport.
  2.    Coupon to cook dinner.
  3.    Coupon for one free back rub.
  4.    Coupon for cleaning the house.
  5.    Coupon for getting up early to feed the dog.
  • Use groupon Get an expensive present for your significant other on sale by using groupon or a similar service. You can find incredible deals on jewelry, weekend getaways, fancy dinners, and more.
  • Flower seeds Instead of buying flowers for your love, buy flower seeds. Bouquets can be really expensive, so skip them and get flower seeds instead. You can start the seedling indoors while its still kind of cold out. When the weather is nice, you can spend the day together planting the seedlings and in the future, you can make your significant other beautiful bouquets yourself!

These are just a few Valentine’s Day ideas if you are on a budget. You can still have a great day spending quality time together without having to spend a lot of money. At the end of the day, it’s about who you’re with, not what you’re doing or how much money you’re spending.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love,
