In honor of International Pineapple Day on June 27th, I wanted to share this great Consumer Tip especially as we are going into a holiday next week and you can make this treat to bring to any cookout without breaking the bank.
Enjoy a slice of the tropics for under $10…with this Two-Ingredient Pineapple Angel Food Cake from Betty Crocker.
My Mother-in-Law introduced me to this heavenly treat last week and I can't stop thinking about it so I bought all the (TWO!) ingredients to make it myself (see pics from my kitchen below)!
The right pan is a MUST! You need to use an actual “angel food cake pan” (aka 10 in. tube pan).
And if you want to be EXTRA just add some coconut whipped cream from Trader Joe's on top of each slice.
Ingredients:
1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Angel Food Cake Mix
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In large bowl, beat dry angel food cake mix and crushed pineapple on low speed 30 seconds; beat on medium speed 1 minute. Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
3.Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cool completely upside down as directed on cake mix box, about 2 hours. Run knife around edges; turn cooled cake out onto serving plate. Use serrated knife to cut into slices. Store covered in refrigerator.
Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
